I'm going to change things up a bit, and repurpose this blog as a travel diary for my upcoming trip to China.
It's still hasn't sunk in that I'm really going to be on the other side of the world, but I guess it can't till I have the smells, tastes, and scenes to put with the concept of "China." I am however, getting very ready to go. I've got my suitcases standing in the corner. I've said my goodbyes, seen all my friends and family... but I'm still here.
Paperwork and very long strings of people who have to sign off on it are the cause. Me, my supervisor, and who knows how many offices in China are all playing ping pong with the letter that has to go in with the visa application, so meanwhile I wait. I'm having to get used to the fact that I can't simply call someone up and talk through the problem. Welcome to China, I suppose.
